Hello Feminist webs..
I thought you might like to know about the reissue of my novel The Birth Machine, which Kimberley Osivwemu has mentioned on your site. First published in the eighties, the book concerns a woman’s traumatic experience of hi-tech childbirth which leaves her isolated and uninformed during labour and deals with issues of power in the structures and language of Obstetrics. The novel was once on women’s studies university courses, but fell out of print. However, it is now newly reissued by Salt Publishing, and young mothers who have read the new edition are saying that it still echoes their experience and are urging others to read it.
The book is available from Amazon, The Book Depository, good bookshops and direct from Salt Publishing.
